KM Rehab Superstar: Catherine M.

Catherine M. came to Kirkwood Manor from home due to health issues which had greatly affected her daily living activities such as standing, walking, or leaving her home.

When Catherine arrived at Kirkwood Manor she was non-weight bearing on her right leg and her balance was severely impaired which meant she was not able to walk, transfer independently, or perform her normal daily activities – like dressing and getting up and down from her bed or chair without assistance.

Catherine’s health issues required muscle strengthening, balance training, gait training, and muscle endurance training to assist her in increasing her independence with her daily activities. Catherine began working with Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy on a daily basis to increase her overall strength, balance, and independence. Catherine was always motivated and energetic to improve her level of function and increase her independence every day in treatment.

Catherine has made significant gains towards all of her therapy goals and is now walking unlimited distances with supervision, she can transfer herself and is back to living at home. Catherine continues to work towards her goals and comes two times a week for outpatient physical therapy.

Catherine continues to work very diligently with the Kirkwood Manor therapy team and for that the therapy team is greatly thankful and we know Catherine is thankful and is looking forward to a full recovery.

We are proud to announce, Catherine M. as our KM Rehab Superstar for the month for July 2019! Her hard work and determination are inspiring to all of us!
