KM Rehab Superstar

James K. came to Kirkwood Manor from his home after an accident which greatly impacted his daily living activities such as walking, leaving his home, and his activity level.

When James arrived at Kirkwood Manor his activity tolerance was severely impaired due to the accident, which also meant that he was not able to walk without physical assistance or complete his normal daily tasks such as dressing, getting up and down from his bed or chair without assistance.

James’s health issues required cardio training, muscle strengthening, balance training, gait training, and muscle endurance training to assist in increasing his independence in his life. James began working with Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy daily to increase his overall activity tolerance, muscle strength, balance, and independence. He was also focused on raising his cognition level to keep his mental focus and mental abilities sharp, which also helped to increase his independence. James was always motivated and energetic, with a focus on improving his physical capabilities and increasing his independence. James has made significant gains towards his therapy goals and is now walking with supervision. In addition, he can transfer himself, and his cognition level is extremely sharp.

James worked very diligently with the Kirkwood Manor therapy team; and for that we are greatly thankful, and we know James is thankful too and looking forward to continuing to improving himself to the best of his ability!

We are proud to announce, James K. as our KM Rehab Superstar for the month for January 2019! His hard work and determination are inspiring to all of us!
